Time saving tips to get the best out of your workout.

Life is busy and if you’re finding the time to work out regularly or if you’re training for a big fitness goal like a competition, we applaud you. We also understand what it takes to get a full workout on a regular basis if you have other commitments. And who doesn’t?

We’ve gathered some top tips for our resident athletes for getting the best out of your workout with limited time. Because we know that, as busy as you are, you don’t want to compromise on your fitness.

Time saving tips for a great workout

1. Rise and shine

Get to the gym early and you’re more likely to run into fewer people. Not only does that mean you won’t have to wait for equipment, you will lessen the chance of seeing someone you know and chatting away your precious workout time. You could save as much as 20 minutes per session and it’s a great way to start the day.

2. Try interval training

On those days when you are really pressed for time, interval training can help you get the most out of your cardio workout. Sprint for 30 seconds, then walk for 30 seconds, 10 times over. Intervals burn more fat, boost your fitness and take half the time of your regular cardio workout while still getting the job done.

3. Eat right

Plan your meals and pre- and post-workout snacks ahead of time. Have a timetable for the week and prepare as many of your meals as possible beforehand. This way, you won’t have to cut your workout short to fuel up and you won’t go hungry or end up eating the wrong thing. Looking for a quick breakfast or yummy snack? Start with the perfect balance of carbs, fats, and proteins in the shape of yummy chocolate pancakes from resident athlete Kelly Stegan: You’ll need 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites, ½ scoop Muscle Wellness Organic Chocolate Whey Protein, 30g-40g oats, a dash of cinnamon and vanilla essence, and 1tsp coconut oil. Beat egg whites until fluffy. Add cinnamon, oats, and vanilla essence. Beat for a further 10 secs. Add mix to a lightly greased frying pan (use coconut oil) and cook on medium until cooked through and sides lift. Turn and cook through again. Cut into quarters, pack in a lunch box, and enjoy later!

4. Supplement

While supplements should never completely replace a balanced diet, they can be the perfect complement to a busy life, helping you to get the best out of your workout. Supplements such as those found in the Muscle Wellness pantry can make it much easier to get the daily nutrition you need in a safe and quick way. Protein shakes, berry snacks, ready-to-mix powders… just grab and go like our resident athlete Andre Gadney – “I mix my pre-workout Nitro Charge with my BCAA supplement to pre-empt my recovery, feeding my muscles when they need it and getting the most out of my supplements in one go.”
